Ahmedabad is a city that is part of the Indian state of Gujarat and is located in the western part of the country, on the banks of Sabarmati River, which divides the town into two parts. Largest city and former capital of the state, and the seventh most populous city in the country with nearly six million inhabitants, is recognized as an industrialized metropolis that played a key role in the independence of India in the first half of the twentieth century.
