Gujarat is a state located northwest of India bordered on the north by Pakistan and the state of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh to the east and Maharashtra to the south, while it has a coastline of 1,600 km with access to the Arabian Sea. Recognized as one of the most industrialized states of the country, its capital is the city of Gandhinagar, while the largest city is Ahmedabad, and has a population of over 60 million inhabitants. In this state was born Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most important historical figures in the world and one of the main leaders of the Indian independence.

With a total area of 196,000 square kilometers, the options for tourism in the Gujarat are incalculable. Between the must-visit attractions for the nearly 20 millon visitors who travel whitin Gujarat every year can be found natural environments like the Great Rann of Kutch, a salt marsh located in the Thar Desert, the Saputara hills or the Gir Forest National Park with the only isolated populaton of the Asiatic lion in the world. Also in the state can be visited architectural and religious wonders as the Somnath Temple in the Saurashtra region, the Palitana temples in Bhavnagar district, the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque and the Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad or the Sun Temple in Modhera, among many others. This state is also known for its valued gastronomy, primarily a vegetarian cuisine with many dishes recognized for being sweet, salty and spicy at the same time.
