Rajasthan is an Indian state located in the extreme northwest of the country, on the border with Pakistan. It is the largest state in the nation with more than 300,000 square kilometers, 10% of India, but ranks eighth in the ranking of most populous states with just under 70 million inhabitants. The state was formed in 1949, its capital and largest city is Jaipur and its territory includes the spectacular Thar Desert.
